As we creep closer to Christmas and 2019 draws to a close (how did that happen?!), we thought we’d take a look back at some of our many highlights of this year.
We began the year with our best Burns to date, selling more haggis across the UK than ever before! In total we sold over 1 million haggis, and fed over 3.2 million people! Since then we’ve been busy working on something very exciting for Burns 2020, so keep your eyes peeled…
Moving on to April, we launched our Veggie Square Sausage in supermarkets, and what a response we’ve had! It really has taken the country by storm and we are delighted by the response we have received among vegetarians, vegans, and meat-eaters alike.
This was closely followed by the listing of our Veggie Links and Veggie Breakfast Pack, which contained a much requested and long awaited vegetarian breakfast staple: Vegetarian Black Pudding! If you’ve yet to try any of them, pick up a pack in Tesco, Asda, or Morrisons stores in Scotland and taste for yourself! All Vegan Approved by the Vegetarian Society.
And for those asking about Veggie Black Pudding as a stand-alone product, there could be good news in April 2020! Watch this space…
Our new website launched in the first half of the year which has allowed us to do so much more! Now you can follow our recipes, read our blogs, and find out more about our products, and all from your mobile or tablet too.
With our new website came the launch of our online Click & Collect service! This allows customers to order from the comfort of their own home, ready to collect from the local shops. While useful for regular customers, this added level of convenience has also helped us reach new customers who might otherwise have been unable to take the time to browse in the shops.
We teamed up with Glasgow-based charity, Launch Foods, to provide 50kg of meat every week. The Launch team then use this to help serve up healthy, nutritious meals to hungry children across the city. In total, Launch has provided 70,130 free meals over past 12 months! We are proud to be a part of making that happen, and look forward to continuing to do so in 2020.
Over the summer we were in the running at the Oscars of food & drink: The Great Taste Awards. We were delighted to scoop three new awards, which went to our Dry Cure Smoked Bacon, Vegetarian Square Sausage, and our Wee Veggie Haggis! Having won awards for three years in a row, this also means we have gained status as a Great Taste Producer.
Following the great work of our web development company, Blue2, on our website and Click & Collect service, they were nominated for the E-Commerce Award at the Herald Digital Business Awards in October. We joined them for the ceremony, and were delighted when they were announced as the winner! A very well deserved win for all their hard work making our award-winning website!
And just like that, December arrived! Over this year’s festive period we are delighted to be supporting Children 1st, Scotland’s national children’s charity. Our donation will help towards their relentless work in helping survivors of abuse and trauma. We received a very unexpected visitor in our Auchterarder shop in our video for their #12DoorsofChristmas campaign! A bit of festive fun, but with a serious message to help a great cause.
And that’s a wrap! What a year!
Thank you all for your custom throughout 2019. We wish you a very Merry Christmas, and all the best for 2020!
