ingredients

1 pack of Simon Howie Steak Sausages

4 carrots, chopped

2 stalks of celery, chopped

2 tins of beans (Any kind, e.g. butterbeans, pinto beans)

2 tbsp tomato puree

1 garlic clove, chopped

1 white onion, chopped

500g new potatoes

400ml of any stock

1 tin of tomatoes

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp mixed green herbs or fresh thyme springs

Half a glass of red wine (Optional but recommended)

A splash of worcester sauce (Optional but recommended)

Method

1. Chop and fry the onion, carrot, garlic, celery and sausages in little oil for a few mins.

2. Once the sausages start browning, add the tomato puree, paprika and salt, then mix together.

3. Tip the contents of the pan into your slow cooker and add all other ingredients apart from the beans.

4. Put on high for 4-5 hours or low for 6-8 hours. If possible, an hour before it’s finished, add the beans and leave the lid off so the sauce thickens more. If you like your sauce even thicker, mix 1 part cornflour with 1 part cold water, then add to the sauce.

5. Serve with crusty bread and enjoy!
