Over 900 young artists from UK schools have submitted their out-of-this-world artwork in our 2022 Space Haggis competition! We can’t thank you enough for the incredible response and efforts made by each and every student in the runup to Burns Night 2022. After a very busy Monday filled with umming and awwing over each and every entry, and ongoing deliberations, all there is left to do now is announce our winning Mission Badge design, in what is no doubt set to be another giant leap for Haggis!

We Have a WINNER!

A huge congratulations to Caleb from Balhousie Primary School in Perth! You are our WINNER!  Your OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD design truly encompassed our Space Haggis mission and we’re so pleased to make a £500 donation to your school PTA, and honour your design as our OFFICIAL space mission badge! You’ll be receiving a high-quality, framed copy of your design to mark this very special win, as well as a bunch of Simon Howie goodies to enjoy!

But, Wait, There’s More…

Due to the hugely creative response we’ve received in our Space Haggis competition, in a complete haggis curveball, we’ve decided to place 4 runner-up prizes who will each receive a £50 donation to their school PTA, and some Wee Haggis goodies too…

The Runners-Up…

Following Caleb’s win, we’re pleased to announce the following students as our runner-ups!

Isla, P5 at Sgail a Taobh Siar Barvas, Isle of Lewis.
Blair, P5, Mount Vernon Primary, Glasgow.
Sadhbh, P7, Kirkmichael Primary, Blairgowrie.
Kara, P7, Whitehurst Primary School, Kilwinning.

When we set out to run this competition, we couldn’t have anticipated the phenomenal effort and creative response we’ve received from primary schools far and wide. And we’re thrilled to hear that students and teachers alike have really enjoyed engaging in everything there is to know about sending a haggis to space.  This has been such a unique opportunity to inspire young minds with in-class STEM education while learning all about Burns Night.

A massive thank you to everyone who participated and for making this a Burns celebration and competition to remember! Â
